Former professional flutist and ex-New Yorker, Claire Gabrielle Bird, has a chip on her shoulder. Or at least she should—for not having achieved the success she sought in her performing career, for having grown up with French parents in the US, resulting in the French not considering her French and the Americans not considering her American. An orchestra conductor once introduced her to the audience, claiming she was born in New York and Paris. To this day, this remains her most impressive feat. The one thing no one can question is her joy when she attempts to rebalance the universe by creating alternate worlds where the absurd becomes the norm, and where the endings are unhappy in the most delightful way.
